Online Card and a Cuppa – Rainbow of Thanks

Apr 20, 2020 | Card Ideas, Celebrate, Techniques, Thank you

Today I want to share with you the projects that I made on today’s Online card and a cuppa. If you missed it you can watch the event here.

I go live with two projects every Monday and Wednesday at 11.00 am BST I would love you to join me so don’t forget to like my page and tune in next week. You can find me here

I originally made the first card you see above as a team swap just before the lock down, but over the last few weeks I have really enjoyed seeing all the rainbows in the windows as I go for my daily walk. Its been inspiring to see how people have rallied to get behind the NHS and all the key workers. The sentiment comes from the wonderful set Here’s to Strong Women. I love this set and although it celebrates strong women I think the words can be used in so many ways right now. Home schooling achievements, cards for key workers, & I recently used it to make a card for an amazing young boy who bravely fought and beat his fight against leukaemia

Rainbow of Thanks – You’ve got this girl

So today I decided to update and recreate my swap. The base is a piece of Whisper White Thick card stock. I then took a piece of Basic Black card measuring 14.3cm by 10.0cm and adhered it to the front of the card.

The front piece was made using a piece of Shimmery card stock measuring 13.8cm by 9.5cm . I added ink using a brush to create a rainbow using. Pacific Point, Granny Apple Green, Pineapple Punch, Pumpkin Pie, Poppy Parade, Melon Mambo & Gorgeous Grape.

I then used and aqua painter to splatter water over the card and quickly mopped it up using a piece of kitchen towel. Once dry I cut the aperture using once of the Stitched so sweetly dies and then embossed the sentiment using Black Stampin’ Embossing powder . The frame was stuck to the base using Tombow Multipurpose glue and the aperture attached using foam adhesive strips.

Rainbow of Thanks – Ornate Layers Thanks

For my second card on my face book live video I decided to change the shape of the card and make a DL shaped card, which is shaped 21.0 cm by 20.0cm scored on the short side at 10.0 cm to form the card.

The basic black matt measures 9.5 cm by 20.5cm and this time I used a piece of the glorious Ornate Garden patterned paper, which is white with gold foiled flowers. I then repeated the process of adding inks. I skipped the water droplets this time as I felt that the gorgeous gold foiling already added enough detailing. I used one of the Ornate layers dies to cute out a stitched strip and heat embossed the thank you from the Ornate Thanks stamp set with Black embossing power again. I attached this to another frame from the same set which I raised with dimensionals on the base. I finished with some metallic pearls coloured with a Dark Basic Black blend.

As you can see this is a great card to which you could make in bulk and change up the shape and sentiments to fit whatever images you want to use.

Voila!

I had great fun making these projects and I would love to know which one is your favourite? So please do leave me a comment.
